At LHS, leadership training occurs in all classes through pedogogy aimed at teaching students to facilitate and participate in groups, to present themselves professionally, and to use critical thinking to understand and analyze issues. In addition, students’ development of social responsibility is fostered throughout the school, both in and out of classes.

In the ninth and twelfth grades, students take part in the Leadership I. Seniors take Leadership II. These full-credit elective classes focus on understanding leadership qualities, considering community needs, and building alliances across difference as critical aspects of leading change. Additionally, students earn additional Leadership credits through participation in our annual student retreats, and through participation in our Portfolfio and Exhibition days. Finally, courses during our annual Week without Walls (an intersession week of elective classes) all have a leadership strand and are eligible for leadership credits.
