Family Involvement


Family involvement and support in school activities directly affects the academic success of high school students. At Leadership, we value and encourage parent participation. There are many ways in which families engage with and contribute to LHS. Families attend Back to School Night and Family Meetings, attend monthly Parent Association meetings, assist teachers and staff, attend sporting events, organize and host dances, and share their passions and expertise. We have established a parent involvement policy and family compact, which describes in detail our commitment to and strategy around family engagement: Title I Parental Involvement Policy

Back to School Night

Each September, families are invited the annual Back to School Night. During this evening, parents/guardians have the opportunity to meet their student’s teachers. The evening begins with a community potluck and time with families from the student’s advisories. Students are encouraged to attend the evening with their families.

Family Meetings

Two times each year families meet with their student’s advisor, the student, and any other key adults in the student’s life. At these Family Meetings, students set long-term goals, discuss how their educational journey will help them meet those goals, and review academic and social progress.

Parent Association Meetings

LHS has an active Parent Association that meets monthly from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the school on the 2nd Tuesday of every month that school is in session.

Leadership has a part-time Parent Liaison who engages the parent community through the Parent Association. Additionally, the Parent Liaison supports Leadership in its recruitment, fundraising, and public relations efforts. Board of Trustees Meetings

Leadership parents are invited and encouraged to attend the school’s Board of Trustees meetings, which are open to the public. Dates of the meetings can be found on this website, and agendas are posted three days prior to the meeting. Additionally, each year a parent/guardian serves as Parent Representative to the Board and provide communication between the Board and Parent Association.

During each board meeting at time is set aside for announcements. If a parent/ guardian would like to request an item be added to the agenda, he/she should contact the Principal.
