Senior Portfolio Day

Leadership’s Senior Portfolio Day is one of the most important days of senior year. Our students create and prepare their portfolios throughout high school. Their portfolio is a collection of work that shows their growth in our four School Wide Outcomes: Personal Responsibility, Social Responsibility, Critical Thinking, and Communication. Portfolios are presented to underclassmen to illustrate their academic and behavioral maturation, and to demonstrate their presentation skills. Passing the Senior Portfolio is a graduation requirement. If your child is a senior, check out their portfolio and appreciate their hard work.

It was great to have decades of community come together for the LHS Alumni vs. Student Game.  The alumni women put on a great game, taking the win. The alumni men took a hard loss to our current squad. Thank you to the parent volunteers who worked the admission table and food booths. Our Athletic Director, Garrett Anderson and Campus Supervisor, Brittney Kelley spent months planning this event. Thank you both tremendously for your hard work! We hope this will become an annual event.

Library Fundraiser

This year our Librarian Ms. Godwin has single-handedly raised funds to supply 17 classroom libraries, but we are still in dire need of funds to stock the shelves of the library at our new campus. If reading has made your life better, please put LHS on your list for end-of-year (tax-deductible) giving. Thank you!

Community Packing Day

This past Sunday was Community Packing Day.  Thank you to all of the students, teachers and parents who made the day a success. You are appreciated!

Origami Project in Geometry

Every year, Ms. Muhammad teaches a unit on origami in her geometry classes. She uses origami to engage students because it contains geometric components such as symmetry and transformation. For the past two years, LHS senior and origami-aficionado Gianna Hermogeno has taught students how to make three-dimensional models in Ms. Muhammad classes. On her experience in the classroom Gianni said: “It was a fun experience to be a mentor to my younger peers in the school. I would like to come back while I’m in college to teach this class again!” The beautiful origami project will be on display next year in our new facility.

Final Exams Schedule

Semester final exams will be held December 15-18th. There will be two days of review and two days of exams. Students should make plans to complete all assigned and missing work for each of their classes. The Academic Support Center is a great place for students to review and receive support for final exams. The ASC is open for 90 minutes every day after school.

We Are Moving!

Posted by on Dec 5, 2014 in Parent Press | Comments Off on We Are Moving!

Hello Leadership Community!

As you know the big move to our new building is happening soon and its going to be a big event for the families as well as the students! Please see the below dates for important information.  We are really hoping that we can get as much family participation as possible during this time to make this move as smooth as possible for our staff AND most importantly our students.

Key dates:

  • 12/7—Community Packing Day! Students and families—this is your chance to pitch in and help some of your favorite teachers get ready for the big move from 10am to 3pm—and earn community service hours. There will be a lunch break with pizza and a lunch-time tour of the new campus on Monday, December 8th at 11:30am.

  • Community commitment: We are truly fortunate to be moving into a beautiful new, state-of-the-art campus, with all new furniture. The work of keeping Leadership’s new home clean and beautiful can’t be done by a custodian or a team of custodians or the LHS staff alone. It will take a community commitment, all 300 of us who are on campus every day have a role to play.
  • It’s all about you! Students, we invite you to start day-dreaming about the new space and give thought to the impact of your actions in that space. You go to a school called Leadership, after all! Practice now putting trash where it belongs and take pride in keeping our new campus free from graffiti and litter. You know what to do. Be accountable to yourself and your community.

·         Families, you are a big part of this! Please talk with your students now about the importance of respecting the new learning space we are moving into.
