Holiday and Exam Stress
With one week left in the semester, students will feel stress around their final grades. In addition, the holidays are a difficult time for many of our students who don’t live with their parents, have experienced loss, have family members who are alcoholics, or are dealing with depression. Unfortunately, many of these students cope by drinking excessively or using drugs. Talk to your student about healthy ways of coping with stress, including exercise, rest, eating well and talking to our counselor, Ms. Song. Call your student’s advisor if you are concerned about your student and need support.
Final One Week of Semester
With one week in the semester left, it is time to encourage your student to stay after school to attend teacher office hours to make up missing work and learn the material for final exams and presentations. If you received a letter explaining that your student is at risk of not passing due to attendance issues, please contact your student’s advisor, Attendance Liaison Susana Salinas or Principal Beth Silbergeld for support with the waiver process.
Cold and Flu Season
Please help us stay healthy by providing boxes of tissues for classrooms. If you can donate any boxes this year, please drop them at the main office.
Leadership will be hosting “A Starry Night” winter formal on January 31st from 6-11pm. The dance will be held at the Metronome Ballroom on 17th Street. Tickets will go on sale next week. They will start at $25. See Mr. Salinas for more info.
